| CPUCalc is an overclocking-calculator able to "simulate" overclocking with many Intel and AMD processors. You just need to set your wished clock and it calculates all other settings, for example. It automatically sets the correct CPU-RAM-ratio and Referenceclock:HTT-Ratio.
Itīs also able to calculate the new TDP with the overclocked settings. A very useful tool for those who like to tinker

Its not the most useful program i have found. - but its at 1.96 now.
I learnt to overclock (and i am an amateur with only some success) using these two pages.

You will find a full account of a useful selection of programs in your overclocking toolbox.
I experimented with a "known good processor and mobo for overclocking" that was surplus and had some success.
Its an interesting technical challenge to learn about all the options in your motherboard, but try at your own risk.
The best way is to find someone on forums like these that has a very similar setup to you, someone would have already succeeded in overclocking 10-20% (all you can really expect really without insane cooling and ultra stable high quality components).
The trick is to follow some or all of the steps in some of these links - you might find that you get Bus speed overlclocked, but that your memory will not, or your CPU multiplier can be upped with success.
i repeat... try at your own risk, take baby steps and be very patient with low expectations,do your research on the kit you have and you might well learn a fair bit about low level hardware. |
