PostSubject: Security of contact details?   Fri 27 Nov 2009, 12:10

I recieved this email this morning, it is making me wonder about the security of contact details on the site as it says it's from a senior admin at the bottom. I'm guessing the sender is simply trying to get a response to get my email as the address it was sent from is the forum one.

Hello [ABA]robinson813,

Here is the message sent by the contact form page Anonymous of "[ABA] Clan" - http://www.abaclan.com.

Message subject : [Contact] Other

Message content : I liked this site.

Ignore and delete - any legit admin contact, will have either my name or strimas name on the bottom - anything else just delete.

Just changed the guest profile so they can't see user profiles. Could be just a spam bot.

I've also had it, looks like a bot. See how it goes, might be a one off as they do not get your email address through the forum.

Like I said.

I think the reason is the forum needs to pay its subscription for the year, which I have been paying each year myself, need to look into its renewal as it has slipped my mind, as it does keep it free from advertising and bots etc, when its paid for !!

Sounds very much like a bot, I'll take another look at the security settings.
