| i want to join the army, always have always will. 2 years ago i was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (bowel disease), i just called my local army careers office trying to book a appointment, i briefly said what it was, that i had very little to no symptoms , then he asked if i was on medication, i said yes, and he said no. straight no, even though i also mentioned my dr would write a letter saying in his medical opinion i should be allowed to join as it wont effect me. i asked about TA and was a no as well.
i need advice and help, i don't know where to turn. |

| I am no recruiting expert by any means, but if it were me i would firstly get the doctors note, then go into the careers office and speak to them face to face m8. Unless there are any qualified AFCO guys here??? _________________

| | i agree with undies, i run the rrtt team at my place and any SuT, i.e recruit, should be at least accessed via an army doctor and not told in this way....get the doctors note and dont book an appointment in the army careers walk in with the letter and ask to be accessed by an army doctor, if no joy then ask to speak to a senior member of staff, sometimes they are in that post cause they are wasters..give vit a go mate, and go into the local TA centre dont book just go in with your letter..good luck..but please dont be dissapointed if its a no..but try anyway |

| Which career office was it? in no way should he have said no without an official opinion, after all the medication could be a headache tablet. I would go to a different office directly, and not the one you phoned in case you get the same bloke again.
Also helps if you know exactly what you want to do, there are loads of jobs available. _________________
