A call to ABA - Help in research

Hi guys,

I'm a first year War Studies student at the University of Wolverhampton and I'm posting here on behalf of my University lecturer. He's part of a group called DiGRA (Digital Games Research Association). He would like to know whether any of you guys would be interested in being interviewed for his research into serving army personnel and the games they play.

Ben,

Could you give us some more info on what sort of research he is doing.

Not being nosey but there are several considerations we (as in the Army) to take before going in for this type of thing.

Is it an official research programme or more of a personal study?

If we are unable to help we can point you in the right direction as there are a lot of places we can put you in contact with if needs be.

Let us know mate as we will help out where possible.

By my understanding mate it's basically a couple of questionnaires, couple of basic interviews, nothing that should breach any security issues you guys have.

It's just research into the types of games that serving soldiers play, their reasons for playing them and the like.

Sounds like he is doing psycho analytical testing possibly, tell him we only play games where we kill or blow things up, cos that's what we are trained to do, and if we did not do it in games we would all be roaming the streets like vigilantes.
